Sayeeda Khanam, first female photographer of the country, is no more

Sayeeda Khanam, the principal female photographer of Bangladesh, died in the capital early today. She was 83. 


The photographer who had been experiencing mature age complexities inhaled her last at her habitation in Banani around 3am. 


She was born in Pabna on December 29, 1937, Sayeeda Khanam finished her lords in Bengali writing and Library Science from the University of Dhaka. 


In 1956, she began her vocation as a photographer in Begum, the main paper devoted to ladies around then. 


She secured numerous national and worldwide occasions. She functioned as a photographer with prestigious movie producer Satyajit Ray in three of his movies. 


Khanam functioned as a bookkeeper in Bengali Literature division of University of Dhaka from 1974 to 1986. 


After the war, she chipped in as a medical caretaker in Holy Family Hospital for some time. 


Khanam had her first global presentation in 1956 subsequent to taking an interest in the International Photo and Cinema Exhibition, Cologne. 


In the equivalent year, her works were shown in a universal photography display held in Dhaka and later showed in global rivalries in Japan, France, Sweden and Cyprus. 


Her deals with Mother Teresa, Rabindra Sangeet vocalist Konika Bandopadhyay and Satyajit Ray were likewise shown in Dhaka. 


In 1960, she got an honor in All Pakistan Photo Contest and in 1985 she was regarded with UNESCO Award for photography. 


She got numerous different honors from a few national and global associations and was a lifetime individual from Bangladesh Mahila Samity and Bangla Academy.
